Flight delays or cancellations, lost luggage, or denied boarding can cause significant financial and emotional losses for passengers. However, many are unaware that they are entitled to compensation under national legislation and international agreements.

If a flight is delayed by more than 3 hours or cancelled, the passenger is entitled to:

financial compensation (from €250 to €600 according to EU Regulation No. 261/2004)
Lost, damaged or delayed luggage
According to the Montreal Convention, passengers may receive up to 1,288 SDRs (approx. $1,600 USD) for lost or damaged baggage.
Denied boarding
In cases of overbooking, passengers have the right to:

up to €600 in compensation (for air travel)

alternative flight or ticket refund

meals and hotel accommodation paid by the carrier
Physical injury due to accident or other violations
Carriers must compensate injured passengers for medical expenses and moral damages under civil law and international standards.
