Lawyer’s request to the military unit

Attorney’s request is an important tool that allows lawyers to effectively protect their clients’ interests before state authorities. It is a written inquiry that firmly establishes the right to obtain information and the necessary materials in a case.

Through an attorney’s request, it is possible to contact military units to obtain required documents or information. For example, in the case of refusal to discharge a servicemember, an attorney can find out the details of how the report was reviewed and the reasons for the refusal, allowing them to effectively protect their client’s rights.

Such a request highlights the importance of legal protection and guarantees access to essential information, which is crucial for ensuring fairness and legal accountability.

What is the response time for an attorney’s request?

Legislation clearly states that upon receiving an attorney’s request, the deadline for providing the requested information and copies of documents is 5 days. However, if for objective reasons the response is delayed, this period may be extended by up to 20 days. It is important to note that any such extension must be justified and communicated to the concerned parties.

The Attorney and Realtor Association of Ukraine “AROU” submits attorney’s requests on a wide range of issues:

  • processing the status of a participant in hostilities;
  • obtaining a certificate on the circumstances of injury or wound;
  • regarding the reasons for the lack of referral for treatment;
  • regarding the amount and type of financial compensation;
  • requesting documents related to MMC (Military Medical Commission) procedures, and more.
