The employer is responsible for ensuring workplace safety at any enterprise, regardless of the type of activity. However, to increase efficiency and streamline management, it is necessary to create an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) service. Additionally, a Regulation on the Occupational Health and Safety Service must be developed, considering the specifics of the enterprise, working conditions, and the number of employees.
- If there are fewer than 20 employees at the enterprise, OHS duties may be performed by external specialists under a contract.
- For enterprises with fewer than 50 employees, establishing an OHS service is not mandatory. These duties can be handled by a highly qualified specialist or a safety engineer.
- According to Ukrainian legislation, enterprises with more than 50 employees are required to establish an OHS service that reports directly to the employer.
